 A Note from the Associate Pastor Minimize

  And a great good morning to you!

We welcome Pam Masten to our pulpit today as we celebrate the Fourth Sunday of Advent and the gift of Love. Pam is a charter member of this congregation and a senior at Princeton Theological Seminary. God willing, she will cross the graduation tassle in May and move forward to serve the church of Jesus Christ as a Minister of Word and Sacrament at that time.

We have been blessed to share Pam’s journey. She’s the first-ever Inquirer and first-ever Candidate (the two phases of pursuing ordination) in Community Presbyterian’s 10-year history. Already we have three students close on her heels – with several others discerning their course. I hope this congregation realizes how blessed we are: Many churches exist 100 years without ever producing onepastor … At age 10, we’re well on the way to producing four! Thank you, God.

Tomorrow your church staff will be on hand to facilitate four different Christmas Eve services of worship. Communion will be offered at 11 am and 11 pm and all three evening services (5 pm, 7:30 pm and 11 pm) will feature candlelighting.

Traditionally, the 5 pm service, featuring our wonderful KidsKhoir, draws the largest attendance – and each service possesses its own unique flavor. I love them all and always feel moved by the readings, music, prayers and communal experience. What a wonderful way to commemorate the Self-giving of our Lord!

As a reminder, our church office will be closed December 25 and 26, though we’ll resume our regular schedule – including Thursday’s Night of Worship – on Thursday.

Friends, this is the picture of Love: heaven came to earth for our sake. Thanks be to God. From all of us on staff at CommPres, thank you for the privilege of serving alongside you in ministry.

You are loved,

Nancy Graham Ogne

Saying What We Believe
                 I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth,
    and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost,
    born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate,
    was crucified, dead and buried; He descended into hell;
The third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven
    and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty;
    from thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Ghost, the holy catholic church,
    the communion of saints,  the forgiveness of sins,
    the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting.    Amen.
